In this lesson you will setup a Pixlr account and learn the Pixlr interface.

After you have created your folders and downloaded your assets located on the left-hand side,  check out these tutorial videos.  When you are watching the videos be ACTIVE and ENGAGED by participating in the process.  You are RESPONSIBLE for YOUR LEARNING!

This lesson is broken down into two parts – creating, saving, and opening documents in Pixlr AND a lesson about resolution.    Most of PART 2 is watch and learn instead of watch and engage – but it’s IMPORTANT so don’t be a slacker.

You are going to to add text to the shoesLarge photo and resize them.  You will have a total of three images that you will need to upload to Google Classroom:

INSTRUCTIONS

Understanding layers is critical when it comes to photo editing and compositing.  In this lesson, students will learn how to use the layers panel in Pixlr.

ASSIGNMENT

For this assignment you need to complete three images, which will include the bullseye.  You can get creative if you wish but you need to demonstrate that you know how to use shapes and layers.  Your files should be saved with the following naming convention:

  1. LastnameFirstnameLayer1 (Bullseye)
  2. LastnameFirstnameLayer2 (whatever you want to do)
  3. LastnameFirstnameLayer3 (whatever you want to do)

You will upload all three of those files to Google Classroom.

INSTRUCTIONS

Now we are going to do some real editing to photos.  These are the basics and we are going to follow the workflow that some photographers use to edit their photos.  This lesson will overflow into 1.5 Retouching Photos as well.

ASSIGNMENT

The data files contained BasicEditSheet1, 2, and 3.  You are to locate the images in the folder, edit them (appropriately) and add them to the sheet.  Then you will submit the three sheets to Google classroom.   There is a video in the tutorial list called submitting work which should help explain it in more details.
