2.7 Letter Portrait

INSTRUCTIONS

This assignment we will start using multiple tools to create something cool, called a Letter Portrait.

TUTORIAL VIDEOS

ASSIGNMENT

This project is worth 100pts and you must take care to do it correctly!  All letter portraits must be:

  • Portrait 720×900 or  Landscape 900×720
  • The letter must be of YOUR last name!
  • At the bottom (see example below) you must include Letter Portrait-Name and type the font that was used.
 

Here are your portrait options:

OPTION A – Image of Yourself

  • No selfies
  • Use a photo you already have, if you get it from your cell phone, you can do that but you must use the center table area in the room.
  • Clean, safe for school
  • Image must not be cut off, for example if you are extending your arm but the photo didn’t include your arm, or half your head, that wont’ work.
  • Use the first letter of your last name as the letter.
 
OPTION B – Historical Figure
  • Avoid controversial or figures that would be inappropriate for school (common-sense).  Email me if you are concerned.
  •  Image must be clean 
  • Image must not be cut off, for example if you are extending your arm but the photo didn’t include your arm, or half your head, that wont’ work.
  • Use the first letter of your last name as the letter.

  • Required Document Size:  3300 x 4096
  • Find a famous/historical individual and create a stencil of their image.  No controversial subjects allowed.  If you doubt it, email me first.
  • Find a quote that was authored by that individual.
  • Do not use an individual/subject you had previously used
  • OWN the work; be creative; be dedicated.   I reward effort!

INSTRUCTIONS

Learn a little bit about James Hockney’s photo joiner, montages, and design one yourself!

Want bonus points?  Stage your own photos for this event of yourself, pet, family, but the photos must be yours. You can even take a Hall Pass and have a classmate take photos of you!

ASSIGNMENT

This project is worth 100pts and you must take care to do it correctly!  All letter portraits must be:

  • Required Document Size:  See requirement here
  • Create a Joiner Montage of your choice.
  • You must use at least two images
  • Images should be different sizes and levels of zoom
  • 10 Point BONUS:  Stage and take your own photos – if you want to go in the hall and take your own photos, just take a Hall Pass!
  • Every layer MUST have a drop shadow.  It needs to look as if the photos are literally sitting on top of each other.

This is about you.  You must use a photo of yourself!

TUTORIAL VIDEOS

ASSIGNMENT

  • Required Document Size:  3300 x 4096 (see image)
  • You must use a NEON or PASTEL colored background.  Look up neon and pastel colors online for ideas.
  • You must take a photo of yourself doing a gesture/pose that portrays your identity (playing, drawing, skateboarding, etc).  
  • Check these out.
  • Using the image that you took, make a cutout, and make yourself a complete silhouette.
  • You must include the “i” in front of your identity, such as iTeach, iCare, iStrong, iPlay
  • Whatever you choose must be SAFE for school.  So ensure your content is school appropriate. 
  • Make it great; consider adding other silhouette images to your design (using cutouts or blending modes).

Students will divide their workspace into seven distinct and defined areas.  Each area will be used to demonstrate something they are thankful for.

-Required Document Size:  3300 x 4096  or  4096 x 3300
-Divide the area into SEVEN areas
-One area must contain the EXACT TITLEI Am Thankful For…
-The remaining areas are dedicated to:
—–One Universal (i.e. stars, the universe, moon, Milky Way, God/Supreme Being)
—–One Global (i.e.  ocean, snow, the outdoors)
—–One National (i.e. Freedom, Landmarks, Places, 
—–Three Personal:  What are you thankful for beyond the things already mentioned?  (i.e. family, pets, friends, hobbies, interests)
-Each area of the page must be FILLED.  No blank/negative space.
